My thoughts on Rob Zombie

Hello my fellow horror fans,

I first discovered Rob Zombie’s music in my late teens through Kerrang! magazine, ‘Living Dead Girl’ became one of my favourite songs, I found his voice sexy and unusual,  some of his music videos have black and white monster horror movies clips and elements in them which make them fun to watch. I think it is cool he has his wife, Sherri Moon Zombie in most of his videos, it is like the Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter partnership. I bought Zombie’s greatest hits, listened to the album on repeat and was now a fan.

devil'srejects

As a new Zombie fan I thought I should watch his films. I rented ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ and it did not impress me. Sure, it was watchable but it did not bring anything new to the horror genre, insane murdering Southern American families have been used thousands of times in horror films (I.E ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, ‘Wrong Turn’, ‘Hills Have Eyes’,’The Last House on the Left’ ). I expected more of Zombie as a creative individual.

Rob-Zombie-Halloween-3

I remember reading about Zombie’s directing a ‘re-imaging’ of John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ which annoyed me, I do not like remakes, I think classic horror films should not be touched as in my opinion, it is pissing all over the original.  Come up with your own ideas! yet again I was not impressed with Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ re-imagining. I did not like the thorough back story to Michael Myers and his family, one of the reasons which made Halloween creepy was not knowing anything about Myers’ parents or the older sister he killed, you could decide for yourself whether his family were screwed up or if they were the typical happy American family.

This year I decided to rent Zombie’s latest film, ‘Lords of Salem’ because I have visited Salem, Massachusetts and absolutely adored the town for its witchcraft history and its beauty. I knew I was not going to be impressed with the film because of my disappointment with the last two films of his I have watched.  The film did not give any scares, it was full of surreal imagery. The plot ended up being a ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ rip off, Sherri Moon Zombie’s character gets pregnant by the Devil and a cult wants the baby for themselves. I told myself at the end of the film I would not watch any more of his films.

Sheri_Moon-5

Rob Zombie is a fantastic musician who has been around for decades and his performances always get praise by fans and music journalists. He should stick to creating music as that is where his talent lies. He should really give up creating films, he doesn’t seem to have any creative, new or interesting ideas. I’m sure dedicated fans of his will disagree with me but I just can’t appreciate a film which doesn’t bring anything new to the horror genre.

My Halloween is better than Christmas

I have always interested in the dark side of life. I watched my first 18 certificate horror film at the age of 7 and I enjoyed getting my face painted, I never asked to be a fairy or something girly and pretty, I wanted to be a blood sucking creature of the night.  My parents enjoyed taking me and my older sister trick or treating and carving pumpkins with us, it was the one day of the year I looked forward to the most.

Halloween, traditionally known as Samhain was first celebrated by Pagans in ancient Ireland. The tradition was to say goodbye to the end of summer and introduce the winter season. They celebrated Samhain with feasting, bonfires, sacrificial offerings, and homage to the dead.  However, due to strict Christian beliefs the holiday was not widely celebrated until many decades later.

Although my love for Halloween is more of a personal preference because of my love for horror films and all things dark and gloomy, I can explain to you why it is a better holiday than Christmas.

Halloween causes less stress and money. Most people can make their own costumes if they are artistic or buy one for cheap, either in a charity shop or on the internet. You can use a costume from the year before and make amendments to it. Pumpkins cost less than £2 and some supermarkets have a buy one get one free offer for the holidays. On the night of Halloween all you have to do is buy some sweets which you and your friends can split the cost of and watch some horror films you already own or can rent.  Christmas however, is much more expensive and stressful. It has become a commercial and financial holiday rather than what it was traditionally celebrated for, the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is particularly expensive If you are somebody with many siblings or someone who is popular with many friends, you have to buy presents for all these people, you have to decide what to buy and work out how much it is all going to cost you, this is more depressing for students, the unemployed and people on low incomes. Not only do you have to buy presents, you have to fork out on tons of food and alcohol which half of is going to be thrown away, particularly if the person who does the cooking is a bad cook. The decorations always seem to fall off the walls and ceilings and if you own a cat or dog, they climb up the Christmas tree which you need to keep putting back up.

Christmas songs start playing on music channels and the radio in early/mid November and by the end of the month you would are sick of the each and every song and you purposely you avoid music channels and radio stations like the plague until January.

The arguments with family members is the always bound to happy unless you live with the Brady Bunch. Mum is shouting at you to help clean the house and when you do clean up or help in some way, you have done it wrong!  One of your siblings is getting away with helping out and your dad is out all morning and afternoon picking up family members.  Having to spend a whole afternoon, evening and night with members of your family you cannot stand is torture, you are given gifts which you would never buy for yourself and you have to make awkward conversation with these people. There is no public transport so you are basically a prisoner in your own city/home town.  The only way to escape these people is to force yourself into a food coma or if you are over 18, get drunk and pass out.

Some of you guys reading this may call me Scrooge and say Christmas is the time of year to spend with your family and help the poor and needy. You can spend time with your family every day of the year if you are able to and Christmas should not be an excuse to help people out. Volunteer at a homeless shelter or another charity during the year and if you are financially able, donate some money to these charities. Christmas is not all bad but I am definitely not looking forward to it (bah! Humbug)Image Image

New Script information

Dear fellow horror fans,

I’ve recently started writing another exploitation script, it’s called, ‘Killing Both’ and it’s about a bisexual high school student who kills her exes and partners which will have tons of sex, gore and torture. Although I am feeling positive about the script I am afraid it won’t be as powerful and original as ‘Online’.  ‘Online’ was the first film script I had written (I had written short scripts and beginnings of them before).

I will post some scenes of ‘Killing Both’ once I make more progress

Feminism poetry

Dear fellow horror fans,

Today’s post isn’t going to be on the horror genre but instead the feminism poetry I have written over the years. Feminism is important to me and a big part of my life and my writing. Feminism is also a large factor in the horror genre i.e The Final Girl and most horror/gore film directors and scriptwriters are liberal feminists.

Here is two pieces of my feminism poetry, I hope you like it.

Romance isn’t Dead, You Are (performance poem)

Why are you a feminist? She asked me as if it was taboo

I was offended as if being a feminist was the same as a mentalist

“I don’t know the difference between a radical and liberal” she smirked

I sighed with disappointment, she would never understand, she would only be a distressed damsel waiting to be saved by a man,

“Feminism and lesbianism go hand in hand” she commented whilst combing her hair,

Her ignorance angered me; I squeezed my fists and shouted,

“Do you know nothing about society?!”

Her answer wouldn’t matter because she continues to lie to me,

“But don’t you think feminists think romance is dead?”

I looked into her beautiful but empty eyes,

I wanted to say this to her but I couldn’t say the words,

Romance isn’t dead but there is more to life romance,

This whole conversation was said in my bedroom one late afternoon,

Her head was filled with traditional values and sex,

Instead I answered her question with this,

“Do some research into the area; you’d be surprised what you may find.”

She was left speechless, had I changed her mind? Was feminism going to educate her?

This was the very last time I saw her- she continues to have her life dominated by romance

Barbie Wannabe

I had someone to live up to,

Now I see her as a slut and whore,

Welcome her for she is broken,

Attack her for she is dead,

Plastic is not fantastic,

Make up for the faker,

Pink dress on the outside,

Black gown on the inside,

For she cannot decide who is she

Banned films

Hello horror fans,

I hope you all liked the beginning of ‘Online’, please send me your thoughts and opinions.  If the script was to ever get made into a film one day it wouldn’t surprise me if the BBFC were to ban it for it’s very graphic content.  Ever since I was taught about censorship at college I have disagreed with it. As an adult you should have the right to watch and read what ever it is you wish. If nobody was hurt or violated during the making of a film then it should be fine for people to purchase it.  The media has always been blamed for real life crime (Columbine, for example). It is easy to put the blame on somebody or something else because then it makes the crime seem less real, in my opinion.

Millions of people view violence on TV every day and they don’t kill people. For somebody to take away another human being’s life, they have to already have mental and emotional issues, watching a film or TV show will just give them ideas or push them more towards the act.

I personally like banned films more than films which have not been banned because exploitation and controversial cinema is just my thing lol. Megan is Missing is personally my favourite. It is banned in the UK but is available to watch in the US.  Megan is Missing is about two teenage girls who communicate through technology I.E webcam and mobile phones throughout the film. Megan is introduced by a friend to a boy online who turns out to be a pedophile.  Some of the scenes are very upsetting to watch because it involves children being assaulted, but like most exploitation films, it has a message. It teaches young people not to just meet anybody off the internet because it can be very dangerous and it teaches parents to keep an eye on who your children are talking to online.

MEGAN IS MISSING TRAILER- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qolORalWZUw

My overall message in a nutshell is this, don’t ban films because they are controversial and upsetting. Not everyone can enjoy romantic comedies and action films, we all have our own personal tastes. As long as the film makers aren’t breaking the law then let us watch the film!

Here is a list of some banned or previously banned films

Megan is Missing

Human Centipede 2

A Serbian Film

The Bunny Game

The Poughkeepsie Tapes

Salo/120 Days of Sodom

If us horror fans fight for what we want to watch and have THE RIGHT to watch then hopefully with our power we can stop the BBFC from banning these types of films.

Introduction and beginning of my film script

Hello horror fans,

During my last year at university I wrote an exploitation film for my creative writing module, ‘Advanced Script Project.’  According to my tutor, writing an exploitation film at university was ILLEGAL!!! :S and she was teaching the students to write mainstream films, not underground.  These comments upset me as I should be able to write what I wanted and I was PAYING HER.

Discussions between heads of Creative Writing were made and I was given a one to one tutor instead where I was free to write as many gory and sexual scenes as I wanted. When I had finished the script I was given a 1st for it, it was my first ever 1st grade and it proves that exploitation films can be well written if you put the work into it and if you are passionate enough.

I am hoping to get this script made into a film. It is called ‘Online’ and it is about a man who pretends to be a lesbian on the internet, meets up with women and kills them in brutal ways.

I am sharing the first few pages with you. I hope you like it.

FADE IN: INT.KITCHEN-DAY

An old fashioned radio on a bedside table. A woman’s hand reaches out and turns it on.

WOMAN’S V.O.
Are you tired of waiting for Miss Right? Are you always the bridesmaid and never the bride? Sign up for free today on LezGirls4u.com, the world’s number one website for lesbian dating.

 INT. BEDROOM-NIGHT

A blonde teenage girl is sitting at a desk, facing the PC and TYPING. TAP TAP.

The camera goes to her hands; she has scraggy friendship bracelets and chipped purple nail polish. The camera goes to her face; she is SMILING and develops a NOSE BLEED. She wipes the blood onto the screen with her hand and the title, ‘Online’ then appears in blood.

INT.TABITHA’S BATHROOM-NIGHT

Sebastian, (30, with severe acne) is standing in front of the mirror by the sink. He is MASSAGING cream onto his face.

He puts the bottle back into the cabinet, takes another bottle out and closes the cabinet and opens the bottle and massages the cream into his face. We hear CRYING coming from the bedroom.

INT.TABITHA’S BEDROOM-NIGHT

Sebastian is now in Tabitha’s bedroom. She is NAKED and HANDCUFFED to the wooden bed head, her legs tied with rope to the bedpost.

She is BLINDEDFOLDED with a black satin blindfold and gagged with a BALL GAG.

INT. TABITHA’S BEDROOM-NIGHT (CONTINOUS)

Sebastian walks up to the bed and stands over her. The camera moves around the bedroom for 10 seconds, there are scented candles lit around the room, a vase of red roses on the bedside table and a basket of sex toys next to it. (Coleman’s Hawkin’s track ‘Smoke In Your Eyes’ is playing in the background). Tabitha has obviously prepared for a sexy night in.

Tabitha is pulling her arms, trying to set herself free from the handcuffs; there is BLOOD on her wrists from the digging in of the metal handcuffs. Sebastian picks up a cuddly BUNNY on the bed, stares at it and puts it inside his backpack.

Sebastian takes out a large black tool kit from his rucksack and opens it, inside are SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS and various tools of the psycho trade. He takes out a scalpel and puts it to her neck.

Sebastian leans over Tabitha with his face close to hers; he moves the SCALPEL slowly down her body leaving a trace of split SKIN and blood. Tabitha’s body is shaking.

He moves the SCALPEL back up towards her breasts and traces the blade around her left nipple then he covers it with his mouth and BITES it off. When he has bitten off the nipple he starts CHEWING it CRUNCH and spits it out. Tabitha is SCREAMING under the gag. Sebastian repeats the process with the right nipple.

            SEBASTIAN
We’re going for the more natural look

He then cuts open each of her breasts and takes out her silicones.

Sebastian grabs his kit, takes out his needle and thread and SEWS up the breasts. (Diana Krall’s track ‘Isn’t This a Lovely Day’ is playing).

Sebastian takes out a KNIFE from the kit and STABS Tabitha’s stomach multiple times and rips out some of her INTESTINES with his hands. Sebastian spreads Tabitha’s legs, the camera is now on the back of Sebastian’s head, and he EATS OUT Tabitha’s dead cunt.

INT.TABITHA’S LIVING ROOM-NIGHT (CONTINOUS)

Sebastian is all covered in BLOOD and SHIT. He’s standing by the table and logs onto Tabitha’s iPad. CAMERA ZOOMS on the screen. The page for the dating website lezgirls4u.com is open; Sebastian goes to settings, clicks on safari and then clicks on clears history. CAMERA ZOOMS OUT. Sebastian opens his backpack and puts the iPad inside it. He takes out a change of clothes which includes a heavy metal band t-shirt, baggy jeans and a long black wig.

INT. TABITHA’S BEDROOM- NIGHT (CONTINOUS)

Sebastian, now wearing the new outfit and wearing marigolds, is walking around the bedroom POLISHING and DUSTING the furniture.

INT. TABITHA’S HALLWAY-NIGHT (CONTINOUS)

Sebastian stands outside the door holding an empty bottle of PETROL, lights a matchstick and throws it into the flat. He walks outside casually.

FILM CREDITS

INT.SEBASTIAN’S CAR-NIGHT

Sebastian is DRIVING and SINGING along to 15 seconds of the beginning to ‘Prince Charming’ by Adam and the Ants on the radio. He lights up a cigarette and starts steering the wheel with one hand. Sebastian looks for a parking space on his road. Sebastian drives towards The Angel

SEBASTIAN
Fu…

EXT. CAR PARK-NIGHT

Sebastian reverses his car into a space and parks his car. He gets out his car.

EXT. UPPER STREET-NIGHT

Sebastian walks along Upper Street to the many bars and restaurants.  All the pubs, cafes and restaurants are lit up. There is a middle aged couple ARGUING, the woman SHOVES the man and walks off with him following her, apologising.  A busker is SINGING and PLAYING the guitar. Police officers are QUESTIONING boys in hoodies.

INT.SEBASTIAN’S HOUSE-NIGHT

Sebastian puts his bag down and turns on the light switch. He turns on his ANSWERING MACHINE and has a message from his boss, Dr. Alexander .

DR ALEXANDER (V.O)

EXT.PENTONVILLE ROAD-DAY

Sebastian is walking down Pentonville Road in King’s Cross, holding a coffee and a croissant whilst listening to his iPod. He NOTICES a small child with her Mum drop her cuddly BUNNY. He crams the pastry into his pocket and politely PICKS up the bunny and hands it to her with a winning smile.

SEBASTIAN
There you go

The child SMILES and CUDDLES her bunny.

MUM
Holly, what do you say to the kind man?

The child goes red and looks at him

HOLLY
Thank you for saving my bunny

SEBASTIAN
You are very welcome, Holly

Both Mother and child SMILE at Sebastian and walk away.
